Sep 21    House of Luxe Consignment Ribbon Cutting
The House of Luxe is expanding to include high-end consignments making the Quarrier Street Boutique an ideal site for both buyers and sellers of designer fashion and accessories.

The shop will officially reopen as the House of Luxe Consignment Boutique with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon Thursday, Sept. 21 at the shop, located at 817 Quarrier Street.

"Whether you want to upgrade your wardrobe for a lower cost or just want to divest yourself of gently used true designer duds, we can help you from both ends" said Cathy Nutter, the store's owner. "Consigning your clothes is one of the best style hacks for fashionable people."

Clients can offload designer clothing and accessories to accumulate spare cash. Cash-strapped bargain seekers and affluent trophy hunters alike can pare their closets, earning 50 percent of the boutique's selling price. Not only are your items for sale in-store, they are listed across multiple sites ensuring the largest possible audience for a sure sell. Resale shoppers pay roughly a quarter to a third of the original market value of still-coveted items.

Nutter said the interest in consignment shopping is due to consumers' appetite for luxury labels, even if they are gently worn.

"There has been a boon the last few years of everyone wanting a high-end designer handbag, especially Louis Vuitton,” she said. “Shopping vintage and Consignment is a mainstream. Plus the idea of recycling and going green motivates customers too."

The Boutique will take handbags, shoes, accessories, and special event dresses by high-end labels.  It will also list gold and sterling jewelry brands such as David Yurman, Lagos, and John Hardy, along with name-brand crystal such as Lalique, Daum, Waterford, and Murano glass.

Consigners schedule appointments with a House of Luxe Consignment buyer to review items and discuss pricing. The Boutique aims to turn its inventory frequently, buying pieces that are no more than a few seasons old, unless vintage, and dropping prices at regular intervals to ensure that the wares look fresh and will sell at a reasonable cost.

The boutique will continue its sales of fur outerwear, including the popular sheared mink reversible, stoles, jackets, capes, and fur-trimmed accessories. The store is also the state’s only full-service furrier, offering on-site climate controlled fur storage, fur cleaning and conditioning, fur repairs and restyles,  and relines and coat monogramming.

With the shops expansion, the House of Luxe Consignment Boutique also added Jeff Morehead to its sales team.  A native of Parkersburg, Morehead's previous work experience include stints at QVC and ShopNBC networks.

Morehead is spearheading the boutique's new "dollar store" concept section, which aims to give the shopper a unique experience.  The fun and whimsical items in the section will be priced from $2 to $30 and have been strategically curated to appeal to a wide variety of shoppers.

"While the section will serve a very pragmatic purpose and offer items at reduced prices, it will also be a spot for discovery," said Morehead, who earned a degree in fashion merchandising. " You may not think you need a new accessory when you go in, but when you spot one for $15, it seems like the most necessary thing in the world."

House of Luxe Consignment Boutique will be open 10 a.m. - 6p.m. Tuesday thru Friday and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
