Jun 13    Brown Bag Concert - June 2018
The Brown Bag Concert is a free lunchtime concert taking place at the Kanawha County Public Library Plaza this month at 123 Capitol Street in Downtown Charleston. The June 13 concert will feature Geronimo Light with support from Mark Caldwell.

Sponsored by American Medical Facilities Management, local musicians perform in the park 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month May through October. The Brown Bag Concerts are planned in coordination with American Federation of Musician’s Local 136. 

Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch, grab takeout from a Downtown Charleston restaurant or purchase on-site from local vendors. Tables and chairs will be setup for those attending.

The lunchtime concerts stems from the Imagine Charleston Downtown Redevelopment Plan. The concerts are designed to showcase the talent of local musicians, encourage people to get away from their desk at the lunch hour and put a spotlight on various locations in Downtown Charleston.

Jun 14    Business After Hours - Edgewood Summit 2018

Join us for Business After Hours at Edgewood Summit and enjoy their red, white & blue theme to celebrate Flag Day. Edgewood Summit is a full-service continuing care retirement community that provides an attractive, caring, comfortable and affordable senior living community for older adults in the Kanawha Valley region. 

Network with colleagues and connect with business and community leaders at this monthly Alliance event. 

Please park in the Cato Pool lot adjacent to the entrance into the community - a bus will shuttle guests to and from Edgewood Summit. 

Registration is $15 for Alliance members and $25 for future members. Add $10 if registering fewer than 24 hours in advance. 

Invoicing is available for groups of 10 or more. No cancellation refunds within 48 hours of event.

Jun 15    Downtown Open 2018
The Charleston Area Alliance is proud to present the third annual Downtown Open pop-up putt-putt course June 15 - June 29. The temporary course will be set up along the sidewalks of downtown Charleston with each hole sponsored and customized by a local business. The result is a unique one-of-a kind miniature golf course that gives people a reason to explore our downtown, showcases regional companies and small businesses, and provides free entertainment to friends and families. 

2018 Downtown Open hole sponsorships are now being accepted. Sponsoring a hole is a great way to market your business, boost employee morale and just be creative. Whether your putt-putt hole is a work of art or is intended to promote your business, this is an opportunity to help create a lively and exciting downtown Charleston. Downtown Open is an official FestivALL event.

Fees/Admission: Hole sponsorships are $250 for Charleston Area Alliance members and include one unfinished putt-putt platform constructed of plywood. For businesses who kept their 2017 putt-putt platform and intend to reuse it, Downtown Open hole sponsorships are $150. 
  • Sponsor personalizes and finishes platform and hole with materials and construction techniques that can withstand outdoor elements. Putt-putt holes are outside in 90+ degree heat and rain over the course of the two-week event. All holes need to be built to endure weather conditions and hold up to daily player use.
  • Decorations can tie into the business focus area or promote special projects and events.
  • Event signage will be provided to identify hole sponsor.
  • Sponsor listing included on all event signage and scorecards.
  • Sponsor recognition and links on Charleston Area Alliance website and social media channels. 
Jun 21    ArtWalk - FestivALL June 2018

Celebrating its 16th year, Downtown Charleston ArtWalk is a free self-guided walking tour of Charleston’s shops, galleries and businesses featuring regional art and performances. This special FestivALL edition of ArtWalk will feature musical performances along the sidewalks and Musical Easels, a rotating artists exhibit on Lee Street Triangle.

For details about this month's ArtWalk, visit the Downtown Charleston ArtWalk website for the monthly participating venue map. Participating shops are located in Downtown Charleston and feature a variety of art – from paintings and sculptures to photography and music.

Attendees can stroll along at their own pace, dip in and out of stores and stop off along the way for a bite to eat at a downtown restaurant. This well-loved family-friendly event takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. and attracts art aficionados as well as folks who just want to get out and try something new.

Jun 23    Go to Hale Block Party 2018

The Charleston Area Alliance will present Go to Hale, a FestivALL block party event, 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 along Hale Street. Complementing the already popular Capitol Street Art Fair, Children’s Art Fair and Kanawha County Public Library Street Fair, Go to Hale is a block party with multiple music groups playing throughout the day, delicious food trucks, WV Gaming Theater and Race Car, the Good Grand Prix  “Anything that Rolls Race” and lots of children’s activities to keep everyone entertained. 

GOOD GRAND PRIX
Watch adults be kids again at this "anything that rolls" race. Teams will compete for prizes in speed and creativity, all in support of Good News Mountaineer Garage and Goodwill Industries. Come cheer on your favorite businesses and teams!
