Oct 1    Holiday Window Display Contest Registration 2018

Are you ready to dazzle? This holiday season downtown businesses, as well as businesses throughout the Kanawha Valley, are encouraged to decorate downtown windows with colorful and festive displays.

Whether you inspire onlookers with twinkling lights, give them toothaches with gigantic candy canes or take them through a whimsical journey ? the holiday window display competition will surely draw the masses to come downtown and shop small.

If you are a downtown business with a physical storefront, dress up your windows with a holiday makeover. If your business does not have a downtown brick and mortar presence, you can still participate by partnering with an existing downtown business to create a winter wonderland. Businesses can also team up with artists, schools, churches and nonprofits to create a one-of-a-kind display.

Award Categories:

Oct 29    2018 Celebration: A Tribute to Pat Getty & Benedum Foundation
Join the Charleston Area Alliance for our 2018 Celebration - the "Business Event of the Year" - at the newly-renovated Charleston Civic Center on Monday, October 29. This is an opportunity to celebrate economic and community development with hundreds of business colleagues from across the Kanawha Valley. And this year, it is a chance to pay tribute to philanthropic efforts that have made a profound difference in our region and state.

From January 1999 through June of this year, William “Pat” Getty led the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation in a manner that truly fulfilled the vision of its founder, Michael L. Benedum, that, “It is our duty to sow and to nurture, leaving it to others to harvest the fruits of our efforts.”

There are few, if any, West Virginians who have not been impacted by the work of the Foundation. During Mr. Getty’s tenure as President alone, the Foundation awarded nearly 1,900 grants across our state - totaling more than $200 million.

Don’t miss our 2018 Celebration as we hear reflections from Mr. Getty and pay tribute to his leadership - and to the lasting, remarkable impact of the Benedum Foundation’s philanthropy in our community and beyond.
