Shop, stroll and discover downtown Charleston at ArtWalk, a free self-guided walking tour of downtown shops and galleries, 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19.
During October, ArtWalk is a part of Charleston Area Alliance Urban Living Week Oct. 17-19, celebrating the reasons to live, work and play in downtown Charleston. Tour new and updated downtown residential units at Generation Charleston’s Loft Walk 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17; check out downtown’s most historic commercial buildings and lesser-known office spaces at Space Walk 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18 and dip in and out of downtown stores and galleries during ArtWalk 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19.
ArtrWalk is coordinated by the Charleston Area Alliance to support downtown small businesses, more than 20 participating retailers extend their hours and feature a variety of regional art – from paintings and sculptures to photography and music.
The Art Store: Tommy White: Frankenstein’s Garden will be a solo exhibition entailing an ample collection of Tommy White’s work from 2013 to fresh off the easel this year. His paintings explore the relationship between environment, psyche, and balance
Romano Gallery: Phyle: Art Auction is a group show that has been organized by local artists in support of fellow artist and friend Regina Perry who is currently battling a medical condition that has placed her in ICU. All proceeds from this show will be donated to her in order to help with medical bills and hopefully, a stress-free recovery.
Charleston Ballet: Linda Jo Knowles will be at the Charleston Ballet for October Artwalk displaying her ceramics and pottery. The human form and dance play an integral role in both her functional and sculptural works.
House of Luxe Consignment Boutique: Pam LaRose will be the jewelry artist featured this month. A grant writer, she discovered jewelry making in 2016 which opened a new world of artistic expression.
Rock City Cake Company: Alexandra Boyles is a tattoo artist. She fell in love with charcoal drawings, especially portraiture in college. He drawings are some of her favorites and were done over the years.
Gilded Age Tattoo: For October, we’ll be featuring a group of paintings created by the artists at our other business, Black Eagle Tattoo. They are Kevin Adams, Hannah Scoggins, Jamie Taaffe, Zac Walker, Ryan Spradling and Max Wetzel.
Uncork & Create: This month we will be featuring Kevin Jack’s Lost and Found photographs. He has a unique eye which recaptures the ordinary or often overlooked and turns it into the extraordinary.
Stray Dog Antiques: For ArtWalk, Thursday, Oct. 19th, we will feature creepy ceramic vessels by California artist Liz Crain.
Delfine's Jewelry: We will be featuring artwork by artist Chris Wood this month.
Clay Center POP UP Exhibit : The Clay Center’s October Pop-Up Exhibit will feature prints by students at West Virginia State University and West Virginia Wesleyan College made during the Juliet Art Museum’s Steam Roll Print Day at Masonic Temple at 107 Hale Street.
Annex Gallery at Taylor Books: Looking at Appalachia: A photo project designed and directed by Roger May. This project looks at Appalachia fifty years after the declaration of the War on Poverty.
Dressmaker’s Closet: We are having an Empowering Women event here the night of ArtWalk and will be highlighting our business.
Gallery Eleven: Arthur Evans is the featured artist for the month of October. He enjoys many styles of realism in art but his specialty is the human form with emphasis on portraits. Tsukasa Kambara is our guest artist and his work is abstract Cubism.
Genesis Café: Wood and Wine an acoustic duo will be playing for ArtWalk. We will be featuring our spaghetti as well as deli sandwiches for dinner.
