SLS, a company specizlizing in surveying, core drilling, aerial mapping and 3D scanning, will announce its Charleston expansion plans and showcase its new optical gas imaging (OGI) and mapping drone fleet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Charleston Area Alliance, located at 1116 Smith St. in Charleston.

The Glenville-based company is the first West Virginia-based business to offer an elite fleet of mapping and OGI – or thermal imaging – drones. The sleek, lightweight, durable OGI system is equipped with an elite camera and sensors that deliver high-def imaging, as well as thermal and optical gas imaging. Its mapping drones deliver data directly to cloud-based storage. Those numbers create measurements, share annotations and compare maps with drawings and schedules. The 3D technology is deeper than laser-scanned images, offering a precise location for reconstructed space.
